Say “hello” to Brooke!

I was the very awkward shy kid (still kinda am ) with the older twin brothers.

I originally went to school to be a Radiology Technician, but life had other plans. I had my now 11 year-old daughter when I was 19 and my now 8 year-old son at 22. Fast forward 5 years, and with two kids in school, I decided to go back to school. In 2018, I started taking classes at Tri-County Technical College while working part time as an accounting assistant. I’d gotten to know the medical field and knew that was not a field I wanted to do forever. I have always enjoyed working with numbers and solving problems, so accounting was what I decided to go for. I started Tri-County in 2018 and graduated with my AS in Accounting in May 2021, joining Swift Accounting inFeb of 2021 just before I graduated.

The only experience other than school and where I am now is when I worked at a Physical Therapy Clinic as an accounting assistant. The most beneficial thing I learned from there was how to use quickbooks and how the payroll process works.

What I have come to love about small businesses and nonprofits is how well you get to know the owners, employees, etc. There aren't so many chains to go through and you really get to know someone on a personal level and create a friendship.

When I'm not crunching numbers, I am hanging with my husband, two kids, and two dogs which usually consists of camping trips, playing outside, or piled up watching movies (yes, even the dogs like movie nights lol).
